The 3 Scandals That We Should All Care About

If you’re an Obama supporter, you might very well think that Republicans are on a witch hunt. And while I’m sure that most members of the GOP are delighted with how the president’s second term is unfolding with what seems to be a new disaster popping up every day; it does appear that a couple of areas of our government—namely, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are REALLY abusing their power. And nobody—not Democrats, Republicans or Independents should take this lightly.

While the possible Benghazi cover-up might still be a cause for concern, there was no real abuse of power. Were there lies told to protect political futures? Perhaps. But compared with the following three scandals, Benghazi is nothing.

So here are the three incidences we should ALL care about.

Was the DOJ records sweep of AP reporters and lawyers carried out because national security was at risk or because the Obama administration wanted positive publicity during the 2012 election year? If it is the latter, that’s scary stuff and we should all be outraged and demand that the responsible parties’ heads roll.

Even if you believe that the Tea Party is a bunch of moronic racists, the fact that the IRS looked more closely at them should send a tingle down all of our collective spines. Remember, a left-leaning group like the ACLU could have just as easily been targeted. So here is what we need to learn: Who authorized it? Who knew about it? And once we find out those things, we need to make sure that it never happens again. To his credit, President Obama has relayed his outrage and has said all the right things. But the proof is in the pudding. Let’s see where the investigation leads and more importantly, what is done about it.

Our Justice Department spied extensively on Fox News reporter James Rosen in 2010, collecting his telephone records, tracking his movements and seizing two days of his personal emails. Why? Rosen is accused of breaking anti-espionage laws. The accusation is pretty incredulous and the DOJ’s actions are pretty terrifying. Attorney General, Eric Holder might be in real trouble on this one. Even the most ardent left-wing journalists have Rosen’s back. Here are just two of the many tweets that came out in Rosen’s defense.

Keith Olbermann:
“My experience dealing with @jamesrosenfnc was unpleasant and contentious. And I fully support him against this unwarranted act by DOJ.”

Howard Fineman of the Huffington Post:
#Fox Rosen probe as bad/worse than #AP: in unprecedented move, govt says he “conspired” with leaker to get info; that’s what reporters do!

So no matter what your political persuasion, these three scandals shouldn’t be dismissed.

In recent times, there has been a lack of morals in the staff of politicians. Although the head of any organization is held responsible, most of the scandels can be traced to an overzealous staff member who gets caught up. They are the ones who must act with integrity. Sadly some do not.
